Shimano CUES is the brand's unified drivetrain ecosystem for recreational and lifestyle riders, sitting outside the traditional MTB and road performance lines. The U4000 is the entry-level 9-speed tier of CUES, offering the smooth LINKGLIDE shifting that characterises the whole ecosystem. CUES components are designed for cross-compatibility across speeds and product tiers, making future upgrades straightforward.

Compatible with Shimano CUES-series derailleurs, shifters, cassettes, and chains. The 1× configuration requires no front derailleur. Confirm chainring compatibility and BB interface with your frame specification. Suitable for leisure trail, urban, commuter, and adventure bike builds.

Kit includes

• SL-U4010-9R right shifter
• RD-U4000 rear derailleur (GS cage, for 11-41T or 11-46T)
• CS-LG400-9 LINKGLIDE 9-speed cassette: 11-46T as standard, or choose the 11-41T instead (the RD-U4000 does not take the 11-36T)
• CN-LG500 chain

Optional parts

• FC-U4000-1 crankset: choose 170 or 175 mm and a 30, 32, 40 or 42T chainring (optional: leave it at 0 for an e-bike or if you keep your crank)
• BB-UN300 square-taper bottom bracket (68 x 123 mm)
• BR-MT200 disc brake sets, front and rear

The crank, bottom bracket, brakes and rotors start at 0, so e-bikes and bikes keeping their own parts are not charged for them.
