The Shimano CUES SL-U4010 brings proven Rapidfire Plus shifting to the affordable, hard-wearing CUES drivetrain. This is the right-hand lever that controls your rear derailleur, with a refined shape and light action that make finding the right gear quick and intuitive on trail, commute or e-bike duties.

Easy, confident shifting

Rapidfire Plus positions the paddles so your fingers naturally fall onto them, and the light lever throw makes gear changes feel effortless. The 2-Way Release adds flexibility by letting you push the release lever with your thumb as well as your index finger.

The Optical Gear Display sits on top of the lever and clearly shows your current gear, which is handy for newer riders and for setting up for climbs and sprints.

Built for the long haul

CUES uses Shimano's LinkGlide technology, engineered for durability and consistent shifting under load, making it well suited to commuters, trail bikes and e-bikes. The main lever is painted steel with a steel and GFRP body.

Compatibility & fit

This is the right-hand shift lever, which operates the rear derailleur (in the Australian setup the left lever runs the rear brake and the right lever the front brake; shifting is separate). It is a 9-speed unit that works only with Shimano CUES 9-speed LinkGlide rear derailleurs. It mounts to a standard 22.2 mm handlebar via a clamp band and comes with a 2050 mm Optislick inner shift cable.
