D2 Aerodynamic Rim Technology
Shimano's D2 rim profile is shaped to reduce aerodynamic drag at the full range of real-world yaw angles (0–15°), not just the straight-line ideal. The hooked carbon rim is tubeless-compatible and sized at 50mm depth — deep enough to offer meaningful aero gains on open roads and flats without the handling penalty of a deeper section in crosswinds.
Hub & Axle Construction
The front hub pairs an oversized aluminium axle with cup-and-cone bearings featuring CBN (cubic boron nitride) coated races and loose stainless steel ball bearings. The 12mm E-Thru thru-axle interface significantly stiffens the front end compared to traditional quick-release, improving tracking precision under braking and in corners. The Centre Lock rotor mount accepts 140mm and 160mm rotors (lock ring included).
Compatibility & Fit
This is the front wheel only (12x100mm E-Thru axle). Compatible with Shimano 12-speed Dura-Ace R9200 and Ultegra R8100 disc brake groupsets. Requires a Centre Lock-compatible disc brake calliper and a 12mm thru-axle fork. Recommended tyre width: 25–32mm (700c / 622). Tubeless or clincher tyres with a hooked bead are both compatible. Not compatible with 11-speed cassettes or quick-release forks.
Shimano provides a 3-year warranty on Dura-Ace wheels against defects in materials and workmanship from the date of original retail purchase. The warranty covers manufacturing defects and does not extend to damage caused by accident, misuse, wear, or unauthorised modification.
