Carbon Rim & Aerodynamics
The 36mm D2 rim profile is shaped to work with modern wider tyres, reducing turbulent airflow across the tyre-to-rim transition. An internal width of 21mm gives contemporary road tyres the ideal casing shape, while the hooked bead secures both tubeless and standard clincher tyres. The wide external profile (28mm) further smooths airflow without adding unnecessary rotational mass.
Hub & Bearing Technology
The Dura-Ace hub features CBN (Cubic Boron Nitride) coated cup-and-cone bearing races — the same precision-grinding technology found in Shimano's highest-spec bottom brackets. The Centre Lock disc interface makes rotor installation straightforward with a standard lockring tool. A tool-less thru-axle skewer uses an internal cam mechanism to deliver a secure, play-free fit that is significantly stiffer than a traditional quick-release axle.
Spoke System
Twenty-four straight-pull bladed stainless-steel spokes are laced in a symmetric 1:1 pattern. Bladed spokes reduce aerodynamic drag at moderate yaw angles and resist wind-induced rotation during tensioning, making wheel building and maintenance more predictable.

Designed for 700c road disc brake frames. Axle: 12×100mm front thru-axle. Brake: Centre Lock disc (rotor sold separately). Tyre compatibility: 25–32mm clincher or tubeless tyres with hooked bead. This is the front wheel only — the rear wheel (WH-R9270-C36-TL-R) is sold separately. Compatible with Shimano road disc brake systems across Dura-Ace R9200, Ultegra R8100, and other Shimano hydraulic road groupsets.

This warranty does not cover normal wear items including bearings, spokes, tubeless tape, brake surfaces, or damage caused by misuse or improper installation.
