The Deore XT RD-M8100 is Shimano's 12-speed mechanical rear derailleur for trail and cross-country: HYPERGLIDE+ shifting that stays smooth under full power, a SHADOW RD+ clutch that keeps the chain quiet over rough ground, and two cage lengths so you can match it to your cassette.

Pick the cage for your cassette

Shimano makes each cage for one cassette size. The GS handles a 45T largest sprocket (10-45T cassette); the SGS handles 51T (10-51T). Choose by the cassette you run, not by preference: the wrong cage will not index across the whole block.

Compatibility

12-speed Shimano MTB shifters (SL-M8100, M7100, M6100) and HYPERGLIDE+ cassettes on a MICRO SPLINE freehub. Fits Shimano rear direct mount and standard 10 x 1 mm derailleur hangers.
