The Shimano STEPS BT-EN806 is a 630 Wh battery that sits inside the down tube of eBikes built on Shimano's second-generation integrated platform. Its slim, flat shape keeps the weight low and central, so you get big-battery range without a bulky frame or a top-heavy feel on the trail.

Other trims in the same families can use a different battery, so match the exact model name rather than just the family, or check the model number on your current battery.

BT-EN806 or BT-EN806-A?

The BT-EN806-A is Shimano's updated version of this battery, certified to newer safety standards (EN 15194:2017+A1:2023 and UL 2271). Capacity, weight, mounts and chargers are the same, and Shimano lists both for the same drive units. Bike spec sheets usually just say "EN806" without the suffix.

Charging and care

A full charge takes about 6 hours on Shimano's EC-E8004 charger; the EC-E6002 also works. Charge through the bike's charging port, an SM-BTE80 adaptor or an EW-CP100 charging port. Charge between 0 and 40 °C; the battery runs from −10 to 50 °C, which covers riding right across the Australian year.

Compatibility and fit

The BT-EN806 works with Shimano's second-generation drive units: DU-EP801, DU-EP600 and DU-EP500, including their cargo versions. It needs a BM-EN800-A, BM-EN800-B, BM-EN801-A or BM-EN801-B mount in the frame. It does not suit first-generation systems such as the original EP8 (DU-EP800) or E6100. The first-generation 630 Wh integrated battery, BT-E8036, is a different part on a different mount and is not interchangeable with this one.
