Carbon Rim & Tyre Versatility

The WH-RX880's 32mm carbon rim sits in the all-round sweet spot — deep enough to offer aerodynamic benefit on paved sections, low-profile enough to remain controllable in crosswinds on exposed gravel routes. The 25mm inner rim width (ETRTO 25-622) accommodates tyres from 32mm up to 50mm wide, letting you run anything from a fast 32mm semi-slick to a voluminous 50mm adventure tyre without swapping wheels. Maximum recommended tyre pressure is 5 bar / 72 psi.

Hub Engineering

The front hub pairs a 12mm E-THRU thru-axle with Shimano's polished cup-and-cone bearings, sealed with contact seals for reliable performance in wet and muddy conditions. Cup-and-cone construction allows precise preload adjustment in the field using standard cone spanners — a practical advantage on long bikepacking routes away from the workshop. The Centre Lock disc interface accepts Shimano's full range of Centre Lock rotors and requires only a cassette tool for installation or removal.

Spoke Build

Twenty-four bladed, butted J-bend stainless steel spokes (2.0–1.6–2.0mm) provide a proven combination of strength and serviceability. The bladed profile reduces aerodynamic drag at the spoke, while the butted profile concentrates material where stress is highest — at the elbow and nipple — without adding unnecessary weight through the mid-section.
