The 700C rear wheel pairs a wide 25mm internal rim with a low 21mm profile for excellent tyre stability and efficient rolling across a broad range of terrain. Fitted with a Shimano HG L2 freehub body, it is compatible with 10, 11, and 12-speed HG drivetrains — and the hub is designed to accept a Micro Spline body as an alternative, giving you long-term flexibility as you evolve your drivetrain.

Construction

The WH-RX180 rim is crafted from alloy with a hooked bead profile that supports both tubeless and traditional clincher tyres. At 21mm deep and 25mm internally wide, the rim profile balances aerodynamic efficiency with the structural compliance needed on rough gravel surfaces. Maximum tyre pressure is 5 bar (72 psi), which aligns perfectly with the wider tyre volumes this wheel is designed for.

Hub Detail

The rear hub runs on angular contact sealed bearings with Shimano's labyrinth and contact dual-seal system — a design that effectively blocks trail contamination without creating unnecessary drag. The hub shell features a redesigned pawl-ratchet mechanism that can convert between HG L2 and Micro Spline freehub bodies, making it one of the more future-proof options in the GRX lineup.

This is the rear wheel with HG L2 freehub body. Axle: 12x142mm thru-axle (axle not included — use your frame's existing thru-axle). Brake mount: Centrelock (ISO).
