The Protocol RCG-1 pairs the rolling speed of a hardpack slick with the high-volume compliance of an XC race tyre. It's SILCA's fastest gravel option, built for tempo-driven Category 1 and 2 gravel racing and mixed rides that switch between tarmac and dirt.

Rolls like a slick, corners like a knobby

Look down the centre and you'll see a low, ramped directional tread that keeps rolling resistance down. Lean the bike into a loose, high-speed sweeper and the side knobs engage to add surface area for grip and stability. In SILCA's controlled lab testing the RCG-1 rolled at 25.8 watts, ahead of the Schwalbe Thunder Burt (27.0 W) and Continental Dubnital (29.6 W).

Protocol tyre technology

The Pulsar compound is SILCA's rubber and silica race compound, built to keep rolling efficiency, grip and durability in balance. The Race Casing is developed around modern tyre pressures, so the tyre keeps its shape and ride quality at the pressures wide rims actually run.

GhostShield and CarbonBead

GhostShield is SILCA's proprietary-ply-angle 120 TPI casing, which provides puncture protection at higher volumes without breaker layers. The CarbonBead BeadLock carbon fibre bead keeps the tyre dimensionally stable over its life, so the width you measure at installation is the width you keep.

Compatibility & fit

700c (622mm bead seat) tubeless-ready gravel tyre. Widths are measured by SILCA on a 25mm rim after 24 hours; check your frame and fork clearance for the width you choose. Tubeless set-up is a separate Tune Cycles workshop service and is not included.
