Motor & Electrical

The DU-EP801-CRG uses a brushless motor in a mid-ship position, rated at 250W continuous power and operating at 36V DC. Integrated sensors — torque, crank arm position, and cadence — work together to deliver smooth, natural-feeling assist that responds precisely to your pedalling input. The unit supplies 12V DC power to front and rear lighting (up to 2A total) and includes three SD300 ports, one light terminal, and two ports for additional electrical devices.

Weighing 2.7kg, the DU-EP801-CRG is built to handle the sustained demands of cargo bike use: heavier loads, longer distances, and frequent starts from a standstill. The motor housing is engineered for effective heat dissipation to maintain consistent performance on long climbs or back-to-back runs. A chain case and chain device are both compatible, accommodating the enclosed drivetrain setups common on cargo bikes.

Compatible with 24mm narrow spindle cranks. Suitable for wheel sizes from 1300–3000mm. Disc brake only. Works within the Shimano STEPS EP8 EP801 Cargo system, integrating with Shimano BT-EP801 batteries, SC-EP801 displays, and the full EP8 component range. Di2 compatible with Shimano internal geared hubs (5-speed and 8-speed auto-shift supported) and rear derailleurs. Rated for a maximum speed of 25km/h (EU/AU assist limit).
