Three base support modes — Eco, Trail, and Boost — can be expanded into up to 15 custom profiles using E-TUBE PROJECT Cyclist, giving riders precise control over how much support they receive at every stage of a ride. Walk Assist is also included for pushing the bike on steep terrain.

System Integration

The new CAN and ACC ports on the EP801 open up a broader ecosystem of accessories and third-party device compatibility. The drive unit pairs natively with Shimano XT Di2 electronic shifting, enabling FREE SHIFT for clutch-free gear changes while coasting, and AUTO SHIFT for hands-free gear selection based on speed and cadence. Compatible display options include the colour SC-EM800, the SC-E5003 monochrome unit, and the compact EW-SW310 remote with integrated LED indicator strip.

Compatibility & Fit

The DU-EP801 mid-ship motor is designed for e-mountain bike frames built around Shimano's EP8/EP801 motor interface. Requires a BB92 bottom bracket shell. Compatible with the second-generation Shimano battery management system (BMS Gen 2) — not compatible with first-generation EP8 (DU-EP800) battery systems.
