Design & Construction

The SG-S7001 sits at the top of Shimano's Alfine internal hub range, offering a refined internal structure that improves gear engagement reliability over previous generations. The eight-speed cassette provides progressive gear steps across a 307% range — from a low 0.527 ratio right through to a high 1.615 overdrive — giving riders smooth cadence control across a range of gradients and loads. The hub body is finished in satin black and built around a robust aluminium shell.

Compatibility & Fit

This variant is configured for 36-hole J-bend spokes and a 135mm Over Locknut Distance (O.L.D.), making it compatible with standard rear dropouts for commuter, touring, and urban bikes. The axle length is 187mm with a 10x1 threaded axle. Disc brake rotor mounting uses the Centre Lock standard. Compatible with Shimano Alfine 8-speed shifters and levers. Small parts (cassette joint, hub nuts, indicator unit) are not included — sold separately.
