The Zayante Carbon is Praxis's expert-level carbon road crank, named after the redwood-covered Zayante climb in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The arms are made in Praxis's own carbon lab, and the direct-mount spider carries LevaTime II rings or swaps to a single 1x ring with three bolts.

Road, gravel roads, or 1x

Praxis built the Zayante to handle smooth roads, rough gravel and cobbled side routes. The X-spider bolts to the arm through a 3-bolt direct-mount interface, so converting to 1x is a matter of removing three bolts and fitting a direct-mount 1x ring (sold separately), which gives a 45.5 mm chainline.

Zayante Carbon or Carbon-S?

The arms are identical. The Zayante Carbon is lighter because of its rings and chainring bolts; the Carbon-S uses a simplified LevaTime II ring set with steel bolts.

Compatibility & fit

Bottom bracket: needs a Praxis M30 bottom bracket (30 mm drive / 28 mm non-drive bearing), sold separately: BSA, BB86, T47 internal bearing, T47 external bearing, BB30, PF30, 386EVO or BBright. If you already run a Praxis M30 crank, your M30 BB suits this one; if your old crank had a non-removable spider, Praxis says you need its 1 mm drive-side dust cover in place of the 2 mm one.

Drivetrain: Shimano Di2 and mechanical, SRAM eTap and mechanical (including the AXS flat-top chain) and Campagnolo EPS and mechanical, 10/11/12-speed. The 2x road chainline is not compatible with Shimano GRX front derailleurs.

Power: Praxis lists 3-bolt spider power meters from Power2Max (NG and NG Eco), SRM, SIGEY and XCADEY, plus Garmin, LOOK and Favero power pedals and the Velocomp PowerPod.

The Tune Cycles workshop can fit the bottom bracket and crankset for you as a separate workshop service. Threaded shells need the right BB tool and press-fit shells need a proper bearing press, so it pays to have the shell checked and the bottom bracket fitted correctly first. The main crank bolt is torqued to 48–52 Nm with a torque wrench.
