The CN-HG901-11 is the top of Shimano's 11-speed chain range. It carries the full SIL-TEC treatment on plates and rollers, uses hollow pins to keep weight down, and still comes rated for e-bike use. At a quoted 247 g it is the lightest 11-speed chain Shimano makes.

What the asymmetric design does
The inner and outer faces of the chain are shaped differently. On the rear, that means quieter running and smoother sprocket-to-sprocket shifts; on the front, it holds the chain more securely when you are in a crossed chainline. Front and rear shifts both benefit.
Compatibility and fit
Fits Shimano 11-speed HG-X11 drivetrains, road and mountain, including 11-speed e-bike systems. Not compatible with 10-speed or 12-speed drivetrains. The chain is directional, so follow the direction marking on the outer plate when you fit it, and shorten it to length before joining.
Shimano warrants this chain against defects in materials and workmanship. Normal wear is excluded: chain elongation, and wear to the rollers, pins and plates from use, along with damage caused by a worn cassette or chainrings, incorrect chain length, poor lubrication, crash damage or incorrect fitting.
