The DU-EP600-CRG shares the same motor hardware as the standard EP6 drive unit but runs specially tuned cargo assist firmware. This means the power delivery curve is calibrated for the weight and inertia of a laden cargo bike — providing smooth, confidence-inspiring assist whether you're pulling a child trailer, loaded panniers, or a front box. Pedal resistance when the motor is inactive is kept low, so the bike remains manageable even unpowered.

Seamless Shifting Integration

The EP6 Cargo integrates directly with Shimano Di2 electronic groupsets. Paired with a compatible Di2 internal geared hub (such as the Nexus or Alfine Di2 series) or a Di2 rear derailleur, the system can perform automatic gear shifts based on speed and cadence — reducing rider effort on climbs and during stop-start urban riding. The ACC and CAN ports also allow connection to compatible displays, sensors, and accessories.

Compatibility & Fit

The DU-EP600-CRG is a mid-drive (midship) unit designed for dedicated e-bike frames with an EP6-compatible motor mount. It accepts a 24 mm narrow spindle crankset. Compatible wheel sizes span 1300–3000 mm (20"–29" and cargo-specific wheel sizes). This unit is speed-limited to 25 kph assist — verify your frame manufacturer's drive unit compatibility before ordering. Requires a Shimano STEPS battery and compatible display/controller.
