Connectivity & Customisation

The E-TUBE PROJECT Cyclist app gives riders full control over assist character across all three modes. Dual rider profiles allow quick switching between configurations — ideal for shared cargo bikes or riders with varying load requirements. The new CAN and ACC ports support second-generation SHIMANO battery management and expanded third-party integration, making the DU-EP600-CRG future-ready for evolving cargo e-bike builds.

Compatibility & Fit

The DU-EP600-CRG is a midship (mid-drive) unit compatible with the Shimano STEPS EP6 second-generation system. It requires second-generation SHIMANO STEPS batteries (such as the BT-EN806); it is not compatible with first-generation batteries (BT-E8035/BT-E8036). The drive unit uses Shimano-specific e-bike cranks with a direct-mount chainring interface. Q-factor is 177 mm. Rated voltage is 36V DC. Designed for cargo e-bike frame integration — confirm frame compatibility with your bike manufacturer. Walk assist is supported up to 6 km/h. Compatible with Shimano Di2 internal geared hubs for AUTO SHIFT and FREE SHIFT modes.
