The DU-E6100-CRG is not simply a repackaged commuter motor. Its control firmware has been specifically recalibrated so that maximum torque engages at much lower rider pedalling torque inputs compared to standard STEPS units. This means the motor responds early and decisively — exactly what's needed when pulling away from traffic lights with a fully loaded box bike or longtail. The result is smooth, confident starts and sustained support on inclines without requiring the rider to push hard on the pedals first.

Integration & Connectivity

The E6100-CRG integrates tightly with Shimano's Di2 internal gear hub systems (5-speed and 8-speed Nexus). When paired with a compatible Di2 hub, the system can shift automatically based on pedal pressure and road speed, removing the need for manual gear changes on a heavy bike. Assist level preferences and system updates are managed through the E-TUBE Project app, giving dealers and riders flexible tuning options. The unit is compatible with Shimano's 408 Wh, 514 Wh, and 630 Wh battery options, as well as select approved third-party battery solutions.

Compatibility & Fit

This drive unit is designed for cargo e-bike framesets specifying the DU-E6100-CRG in mid-ship (centre) mount position. It is sold without the protective motor cover and without the sensor unit — these must be purchased and fitted separately.
