GRX Shift-Brake Technology

The ST-RX820-R combines Shimano's STI (Shimano Total Integration) shift-brake design with ergonomics tuned specifically for gravel and mixed-terrain riding. The textured, anti-slip brake lever surface maintains control on rough descents, while the ergonomic hood shape reduces palm pressure during long days in the drops. Internally, the shift mechanism borrows robustness from Shimano's mountain bike platform — light, single-finger actuation front and rear is fully achievable.

BR-RX820 Hydraulic Caliper

The BR-RX820 2-piston flat-mount caliper brings tighter pad clearance tolerances and a more outward-facing bleed port for straightforward workshop access. The One-Way Bleeding system streamlines the oil route to prevent air bubbles from entering the circuit, making bleed intervals less time-consuming than ever. The included finned L05A resin pads assist with heat management on longer technical descents.

Compatibility & Fit

This right-hand lever controls the rear brake (standard Australian setup) and 12-speed rear mechanical shifting. Compatible derailleurs include the RD-RX820 (2x) and RD-RX822 (1x) rear derailleurs, FD-RX820 and FD-R7100 front derailleurs, and the BL-RX812 sub-brake lever. Brake hose compatible with SM-BH90-JK-SSR and SM-BH90-J-SSR. The flat-mount caliper bracket supports 140mm or 160mm rotors; the unit ships assembled for 160mm.
