The Shimano GRX ST-RX820-LA combines a high-performance hydraulic disc brake lever with an integrated dropper post remote into a single, clean unit — purpose-built for gravel riders running a 1x drivetrain. Eliminating a separate remote from your cockpit, it delivers fast, effortless dropper post actuation and confident braking in a single left-hand lever designed for flared handlebars.

Dropper Post Integration

Designed for 1x gravel setups, the ST-RX820-LA replaces a conventional left-side shifter with a brake and dropper post lever in one. The remote cable pull of 10 mm is compatible with a wide range of mechanical dropper posts using side-mounted cable entry. An Optislick inner cable is included for smooth, low-friction actuation. There is no release lever to operate — the dropper returns automatically.

Braking System

Hydraulic actuation uses Shimano mineral oil (sold separately) routed through an SM-BH90-JK-SSR hose (straight connection, sold separately). The recommended calliper is the BR-RX820, though the lever is also compatible with BR-R9270, BR-R8170, BR-R7170, BR-RX820-LE, and BR-RX400 callipers.

Compatibility & Fit

Left hand only. Mounts to drop handlebars with a clamp diameter of 23.8–24.2 mm. Designed for 1x drivetrain setups within the GRX 12-speed groupset. Hydraulic fluid: Shimano mineral oil. Recommended hose: SM-BH90-JK-SSR (straight connection). Compatible dropper posts must use mechanical actuation with a side-mounted cable entry.
