The Shimano CUES BL-U8000 is the left-hand hydraulic disc brake lever from Shimano's CUES group, built to bring smooth, confident stopping power to trekking, commuter and e-bike setups. A reshaped lever body sits closer to the handlebar for a more natural reach and reliable control in everyday riding.

Comfortable, controlled braking

Moving the lever's centre of rotation closer to the bar gives a more comfortable hand position and crisp modulation, so you can feather speed smoothly or pull up hard when you need to. It is a particularly good match for the extra weight and momentum of an e-bike.

Easy setup and maintenance

The lever runs on Shimano mineral oil and pairs with the SM-BH90 hose using a straight hose joint. Tool-free reach adjust lets you dial in lever position by hand, and funnel bleeding keeps servicing straightforward.

Flexible mounting

Fit it on its own with the open clamp band, or use the I-SPEC II interface to bolt a compatible CUES shifter directly to the lever for a cleaner, more compact handlebar.

Compatibility & fit

This is the left-hand lever. On a standard Australian setup the left lever operates the rear brake (shifting is handled separately and is universal). It uses Shimano mineral oil, connects via the SM-BH90 hose with a straight joint, and is designed to run with Shimano CUES BR-U8000 (2-piston) or BR-U8020 (4-piston) hydraulic disc calipers. Mounts using I-SPEC II or the included clamp band.
