Lever Design

The BL-RX820-L is engineered for single-chainring (1x) GRX drivetrains, with a lever shape that feels natural on both the hoods and drops of flared gravel bars. The textured aluminium lever resists slipping even in wet conditions, while the tool-adjustable reach (2 mm hex key) allows fine-tuning to match individual hand size and riding style. Shimano's Servo Wave mechanism shortens the initial lever throw to bring pads to the rotor quickly, then transitions to a more progressive stroke for accurate power control.

Caliper Performance

The BR-RX820 rear flat-mount caliper is a refined evolution of Shimano's proven two-piston hydraulic design. Its more compact body provides 10% greater pad-to-rotor clearance compared to its predecessor, directly reducing the likelihood of brake rub and noise on rough terrain where wheel flex is common. Lightweight aluminium construction and a straight hose connection keep the installation tidy. The included L05A-RF finned resin pads feature Ice-Tech aluminium cooling fins that dissipate heat rapidly, extending pad life and preventing fade during long descents.

Compatibility & Fit

Compatible with Shimano GRX 12-speed (RX820 series) groupsets. The BL-RX820 lever clamps onto 23.8–24.2 mm diameter handlebar sections. The BR-RX820 caliper uses flat-mount attachment and is compatible with 140 mm, 160 mm, and 180 mm rotors (assembled for 160 mm; adapter required for other sizes). Shimano recommends the RT-CL800 Centre Lock rotor. Uses Shimano mineral oil only — do not use DOT fluid. Supplied with SM-BH90-JK-SSR hydraulic hose (1000 mm).
