The Shimano 105 ST-R7020 left lever and BR-R7070 rear caliper set brings hydraulic disc braking confidence to the 105 R7000 groupset. Designed for road and endurance cyclists who demand reliable all-condition stopping power alongside crisp 11-speed shifting, this matched lever and caliper set is an ideal rear brake upgrade or replacement for disc-equipped road bikes.

Highlights

  • Hydraulic disc braking: Consistent, powerful stopping power in all weather conditions without cable stretch or fade.
  • One-Way Bleeding: Simplifies maintenance — bleed the system from a single point without removing the caliper from the bike.
  • Extended reach adjustment: Up to 15mm of reach adjustment lets riders dial in lever position for optimal comfort and control.
  • Ergonomic hood design: Slim, well-shaped hoods mirror the form of Ultegra R8000, offering improved comfort on long rides.
  • Ceramic pistons: The BR-R7070 caliper uses ceramic pistons for consistent braking performance and reduced heat build-up.
  • Finned resin pads: IceTech-compatible finned pads dissipate heat efficiently and extend pad life in demanding conditions.
  • SM-BH90 hose system: Uses the same high-quality mineral oil hose system as Dura-Ace and Ultegra for proven reliability.
  • Flat mount standard: Compatible with the flat mount disc brake standard found on modern road and gravel framesets.

Lever & Shifting

The ST-R7020 Dual Control Lever integrates 2x11-speed mechanical shifting with hydraulic disc brake actuation in a single ergonomic unit. The redesigned internal shift mechanism draws on Shimano's MTB technology, allowing smooth one-finger shifts both front and rear. A closed clamp mount with a 23.8–24.2mm diameter fits standard road handlebars, and the lever body is constructed from composite with an aluminium brake lever blade.

Brake Caliper

The BR-R7070 rear caliper is a flat mount, two-piston hydraulic unit constructed from mono-body aluminium for a stiff, lightweight platform. Ceramic pistons and resin cooling-fin pads provide excellent modulation and heat management. The caliper arrives pre-fitted with a 1700mm SM-BH90-JK-SS mineral oil brake hose, ready to route on a rear brake configuration. Rotor sizes of 140mm, 160mm, and 180mm are supported (rotor sold separately).

Compatibility & Fit

This set is the left lever with rear caliper — the standard configuration for the rear brake on Australian-setup road bikes (left lever controls rear brake). Compatible with Shimano 105 R7000, Ultegra R8000, and Dura-Ace R9100 11-speed drivetrains. Requires a flat mount disc brake frameset. Brake fluid: Shimano mineral oil only — do not use DOT fluid. Rotor compatibility: 140mm, 160mm, and 180mm (adapter required for 180mm on flat mount frames).

Shimano offers a limited warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. For warranty support, return the item to Tune Cycles.
