The Tech 4 V4 is Hope's gravity brake: a one-piece CNC-machined four-piston caliper (two large and two small hybrid stainless pistons with a phenolic insert to manage heat) on the Tech 4 lever - roller-bearing pivot, low-friction seals for a light action, tool-free bite-point and reach adjustment, hinged clamp, and a shifter mount with 30 degrees of angle adjustment. Hope quotes 30% more pressure than the Tech 3 with the same feel and modulation.
This listing is the rear brake with the left-hand lever - one complete brake: lever, black hose (supplied long, cut to length at fitting), caliper and racing-compound pads, fully bled. Choose the colour in the dropdown: the first colour is the lever and caliper body, the second the accents (reservoir cap, adjusters, bore caps).
Rotors: the V4 is the only Hope caliper that takes the 3.3 mm Vented rotor (203 / 220 mm) - Hope designed it for this brake; it also runs 1.8 mm floating and 2.3 mm fixed rotors. Hope recommends a 200 mm or larger rotor. A rotor larger than the fork or frame's native size needs the matching Hope brake mount.
Note: Hope's Tech 4 has been succeeded by the Tech EVO range - this is run-out stock at the Tech 4 price. Hope states the V4 caliper is not compatible with every direct-mount 180 mm fork (fit the correct mount and a 200 mm rotor) nor with the 2021 Commencal Supreme DH 200 mm direct post mount. Fluid: DOT 5.1 (DOT 4 compatible).
Hope Technology covers its disc brake systems for two years from the date of purchase against defects in materials and workmanship (proof of purchase required). Brake pads and rotors are wear items. Return the product to Tune Cycles and we manage the claim with Hope's Australian distributor on your behalf.
