That is the smallest engagement angle DT Swiss has ever produced, and it translates directly into less crank backlash and faster pedal response when exiting corners or re-engaging out of a technical section.

The DEG system differs from high-engagement pawl designs by using two enlarged ratchet rings with simultaneous full contact, which spreads the load across a much larger surface area. This results in a more reliable engagement mechanism and more balanced wear compared to designs where only a small number of pawl tips carry the full load.
