Titanium crank arms for eMTBs with a Shimano EP8 motor, machined by 5DEV on a 5-axis CNC from solid titanium bar stock in San Diego. The 157.5mm length suits riders after 5DEV's shorter-crank approach: fewer rock and pedal strikes on technical climbs.

Fitting

Fitting eCranks is a separate workshop service and isn't included in the price. The Tune workshop can fit them to your pedal-assist eBike and confirm your motor first. 5DEV's EP8 mounting instructions: line up the slot in the arm with the small hole in the motor spindle, fit the crank cap with thread locker and torque it to 8Nm (6mm hex), then tighten the two M6 pinch bolts (5mm hex) alternately to 14Nm, inside bolt first, with thread locker on each. The arms go on 180° apart. 5DEV asks for the job to be done by an experienced eBike mechanic and for the bolts to be re-checked after the first ride.

5DEV eCranks by motor

5DEV makes a separate eCrank for each motor interface. Its current eCrank range includes:

Compatibility & fit

  • Made for the Shimano EP8 motor. 5DEV's titanium EP8 page names the EP8 only.
  • Riding an EP801 or another Shimano motor? Check your motor's crank interface with our workshop before ordering.
  • 5DEV doesn't publish a Q-factor or weight for the titanium version.
  • No chainring is listed with the arms.
  • Unsure what your bike has? Check your motor's crank interface with our workshop before ordering.
5DEV gives its titanium cranks a limited lifetime warranty against defects in materials or workmanship (its other products carry a limited five-year warranty from the date of manufacture). If 5DEV confirms a defect, it replaces the product with a comparable model. If you suspect a defect, stop riding and contact us before replacing any affected parts: 5DEV's warranty is void if another maker's component is fitted in place of the 5DEV part. This is in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, so keep your proof of purchase. For warranty support, return the product to Tune Cycles and we'll manage the claim with 5DEV's Australian distributor.
