Spank 359 Vibrocore rim set, 32H, 29", 27.5" or Mullet (29" front / 27.5" rear)

Two Spank 359 Vibrocore rims packed as one set: the rim pair inside our hand-built Spank gravity wheelsets, and the same pair on its own for your own build. Spank's 359 is a radially compliant gravity rim for DH, freeride and heavy enduro, and the Vibrocore version fills the inner well with Spank's foam core: it damps vibration and lengthens the rim's fatigue life for about 40 g.

What is in the box

• Two Spank 359 Vibrocore rims, 32H, in the diameter you choose: 29", 27.5" or Mullet (29" front / 27.5" rear)
• Spank embeds the nipple washers under the Vibrocore foam (rims made from May 2019 on). No nipples, tape or valves come with the rims.

For your own build you need 64 flat-head external nipples, 30 mm tubeless tape and two Presta tubeless valves. Our wheel kits supply all of it.

The rim

• 30.5 mm internal, 35 mm external, 19 mm deep: for 2.0-2.6" tyres (Spank's range)
• Hooked tubeless (Bead Bite): tubeless-ready with 30 mm tape and a Presta valve
• Sleeved joint, shot-peened then anodised; Vibrocore foam core in the inner well
• ASTM 5. Spank lists it for DH, freeride, heavy enduro, trail, e-bike. Maximum system weight 120 kg (rider, bike and gear, Spank's limit for every rim)
• ERD 598 mm (29") / 560 mm (27.5") (Spank's figure, nipple heads excluded); weight about 620 g (29") / 580 g (27.5") (Spank's figures)
• Disc brake only

Building your own

Spank's build rules for this rim: A-level build by a qualified wheelbuilder; butted spokes with a break load over 300 kg (plain-gauge and single-butted spokes are not sufficient); flat-head external nipples only (no internal, DSN or square-drive nipples); a washer under every nipple; 3-cross lacing; 120-140 kgf on the drive side, under 5 % variance per side. Spank publishes ERD without nipple heads: add twice your nipple's head height (602 mm / 564 mm with standard 2 mm-head nipples). Tension: 120-140 kgf drive side (Spank's spec for its radially compliant rims).

Warranty

Spank warrants its rims against defects in materials and workmanship when bought from an authorised seller. Any claim comes back to Tune Cycles: bring the rim to Marrickville or contact us with your order number and we handle it with Link Sports, Spank's Australian distributor. Wear, crash damage, incorrect building and commercial use are not covered.
