Micro Spline Technology
The Micro Spline freehub interface was co-developed by Shimano to enable a 10-tooth smallest sprocket — essential for maximising the range of a 12-speed drivetrain without sacrificing structural integrity. The smaller spline diameter fits only Shimano 12-speed Micro Spline cassettes and requires a standard HG lockring tool for cassette installation.
Engagement & Bearing System
A 100-point alloy plate ratchet system delivers fast, predictable engagement with a maximum play of 7.6 degrees. Stainless steel ball bearings run in precision-ground cups and CBN-finished cones, while dual labyrinth and contact seals prevent water and mud ingress — keeping the hub spinning smoothly in wet and muddy conditions.
Compatibility & Fit
Designed for 142x12mm thru-axle frames with standard rear spacing. Accepts Centre Lock disc rotors (lockring not included). Compatible exclusively with Shimano 12-speed Micro Spline cassettes — not compatible with standard HG or HG+ cassettes. Laces with straight-pull spokes (32 holes). Matches XTR M9100 front hubs for a complete wheelset build. Cone wrench flats on the axle ends allow straightforward home servicing.
Shimano XTR components are covered by a 3-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship from the date of original retail purchase. Normal wear items (bearings, seals) are not covered. For warranty support, return the item to Tune Cycles.
