Micro Spline & Freehub Technology

The FH-M9111-B uses Shimano's Micro Spline freehub interface, co-developed with DT Swiss for Shimano's 12-speed XTR drivetrain. The smaller-diameter spline carrier enables a true 10-tooth sprocket — tightening your gear range without sacrificing chainline geometry. The freehub's 22-tooth ratchet ring delivers crisp, predictable engagement every time you put down power.

Boost Thru-Axle Construction

At 148mm over-locknut distance with a 12mm thru-axle, the FH-M9111-B is built around the Boost standard that has become the benchmark for modern MTB. The wider flange stance improves lateral spoke bracing angle, resulting in a stiffer, more responsive wheel build. Note: thru-axle is sold separately and is not included.

Bearings & Sealing

Shimano's cup-and-cone bearing system is used throughout the XTR hub family for its adjustability and long service life. Combined with high-quality labyrinth and contact seals, the hub sheds mud and water effectively without adding significant rolling resistance — keeping the hub performing between services in all conditions.
