HYPERGLIDE+ Technology
Shimano's HYPERGLIDE+ tooth profile is purpose-built for 12-speed mountain drivetrains. Each cog is precisely shaped so the chain can shift continuously — even while pedalling hard out of the saddle. The result is faster, more reliable gear changes with stronger chain retention on the roughest surfaces.
Micro Spline & Material Construction
The CS-M9101-12 mounts on Shimano's Micro Spline freehub body, a smaller-diameter interface that allows the innermost cog to be just 10 teeth — reducing weight and improving the overall gear spread. The cassette uses a strategic mix of titanium (five cogs), aluminium (three cogs), and steel (four cogs) to balance weight, rigidity, and long-term durability. The BEAM SPIDER carrier bridges the cog clusters without excess material.
Compatibility & Fit
The CS-M9101-12 is designed exclusively for 1×12 drivetrains and requires a Shimano Micro Spline freehub body — it is not compatible with standard HG or SRAM XD/XDR drivers. A long-cage 12-speed rear derailleur (such as the RD-M9100-SGS) is required to handle the 51T maximum cog. Use with a Shimano 12-speed HYPERGLIDE+ chain (e.g. CN-M9100) for optimal shift performance. No low-side spacer is needed during installation.
Shimano XTR components are covered by a 3-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship from the date of original purchase. Normal wear items (sprockets, chain, bearings) are excluded from warranty coverage. For warranty support, return the item to Tune Cycles.
