HYPERGLIDE+ Technology
HYPERGLIDE+ is Shimano's most advanced shifting system, delivering shifts approximately 30% quicker than the previous generation. The specially shaped teeth on every cog allow the chain to transition smoothly and positively, even while the rider is pedalling hard over rough trail surfaces. Combined with a compatible 12-speed HG chain, the system provides enhanced chain retention and reduces the chance of derailment on demanding technical sections.
BEAM SPIDER & Multi-Material Construction
Shimano's BEAM SPIDER carrier replaces a solid alloy spider with an open, structured design that slashes weight without compromising stiffness. The three largest cogs are aluminium with a durable anodised finish; five cogs are titanium; and four cogs are steel where hardness matters most for longevity. The result is a 357g cassette that balances XTR-level performance with real-world durability.
Compatibility & Fit
The CS-M9101-12 requires a Shimano Micro Spline freehub body — it is not compatible with standard HyperGlide (HG) freehub bodies. Pair with a Shimano 12-speed HG chain (e.g. CN-M9100) and a Shimano 12-speed rear derailleur (e.g. RD-M9100) for optimal performance. Suitable for XTR M9100 and compatible 12-speed MTB groupsets. Also rated for Shimano STEPS E-MTB drivetrains.
