Caliper Design

The BR-M9220 uses a one-piece caliper body for maximum rigidity with minimal weight. The dual-diameter opposed-piston layout — a smaller piston at the disc rotor entrance and a larger piston at the rear — ensures even pad engagement and consistent bite point feel. The banjo hose joint at the caliper and straight connection at the lever allow for clean routing on both traditional and stealth-routing frames.

ICE Technologies Compatibility

The BR-M9220 is engineered to work with Shimano ICE Technologies rotors and pads, which use a three-layer stainless-aluminium-stainless clad rotor construction for improved heat radiation. When running the included resin fin pads, the cooling fins further assist heat management on long, repetitive descents.

Post mount caliper. Compatible with 160 mm (S adapter), 180 mm (M adapter), 203 mm (L adapter), and 220 mm (LL adapter) rotors — adapter sold separately. Hose: 1000 mm SM-BH90-SBM. Brake fluid: Shimano Low Viscosity Mineral Oil only — must not be mixed with standard Shimano hydraulic mineral oil. I-Spec EV shifter mount compatible. Right-hand lever (front brake in Australian convention).
