XTR Race Braking Technology

The BR-M9200 caliper uses Shimano's MONO-BODY design — cold-forged and machined from a single block of aluminium — to eliminate flex and deliver direct, confident feedback at the lever. Heat-resistant resin pistons ensure stable piston return speed regardless of riding conditions, while revised pad and oval mount geometry reduce unwanted noise. The system runs Shimano's new low-viscosity mineral oil, which maintains a reliable and strong power curve in hot or cold conditions.

Lever Design

The BL-M9200 lever body is constructed from carbon with a magnesium master cylinder, resulting in a sleek, lightweight lever perfectly matched to the demands of XC racing. Lever reach is adjustable to suit different hand sizes. The I-SPEC EV clamp band integrates cleanly with compatible Shimano shifters to keep your bar tidy and minimise stack height.

Maintenance

Shimano's One-Way Bleeding system simplifies servicing by streamlining the hydraulic oil route, preventing air ingress and making bleeding fast and clean with the included funnel tool and mineral oil. Only Shimano Low-Viscosity Mineral Oil (LV) should be used — standard mineral oil or DOT fluid are not compatible.

Compatibility & Fit

The BR-M9200 caliper uses a post-mount interface. This is the rear brake configuration with a left-hand lever, matching the Australian standard (left lever = rear brake). Compatible rotors include the RT-CL900 and RT-MT905 (up to 180mm — not compatible with 203mm or 220mm rotors). Works with resin pads (K05Ti-RX, without fin as included) or metal pads (K04Ti-MX, without fin). Lever is I-SPEC EV compatible for integrated mounting with compatible XTR/SLX/XT shifters.
