Hollowtech II Technology

Shimano's Hollowtech II platform integrates the spindle directly into the right-hand crank arm assembly, eliminating the traditional square-taper or splined spindle interface. The result is a stiffer, lighter drivetrain unit that installs and removes without special tools beyond a crank arm bolt. The system works with Shimano's external bottom bracket range, keeping the bearings outboard of the shell for maximum stance width and bearing longevity.

Compact Gearing for All-Road Versatility

The 50/34T chainring combination is the most popular choice across the Ultegra range for good reason. The 50T large ring provides strong top-end speed on descents and flat roads, while the 34T small ring opens up climbs and mixed-terrain riding — especially when paired with an 11-speed cassette running up to 32T or 34T. The asymmetric 110mm BCD means individual chainrings are interchangeable with Dura-Ace R9100 components.

Compatibility & Fit

This crankset uses the Hollowtech II spindle interface and requires a compatible Shimano external bottom bracket (such as the SM-BBR60 for BSA threaded shells, or SM-BB91-41B for PF41 press-fit), sold separately. It is compatible with all Shimano 11-speed road front derailleurs in both mechanical and Di2 variants. Chainline is 43.5mm. Pedal thread is 9/16". Crank arm length: 175mm. Chainring configuration: 50/34T.
