Shimano Saint PD-M828 Flat Platform Pedals
SKU code: SHM-EPDM828
Sold Out
Built to handle the demands of gravity riding, the Shimano Saint PD-M828 is a flat platform pedal engineered for downhill racers and freeriders who need maximum traction and unshakeable durability. With a wide concave alloy platform, serviceable cup-and-cone bearings, and 12 stainless steel pins per side, these pedals deliver the grip and confidence to push harder on technical terrain.
Highlights
- Wide concave platform: 105 × 109mm forged and machined alloy body with 1mm fore-aft concavity keeps your foot locked in position on steep descents.
- 12 replaceable pins per side: Stainless steel pins in two lengths — 5mm at the front and rear, 3mm at the centre — for an aggressive yet balanced grip with any flat shoe.
- Chromoly steel axle: High-strength chromoly spindle with a slim-profile design reduces weight without compromising rigidity under hard landings.
- Serviceable bearings: Cup-and-cone bearing system is fully rebuildable, so you can service and extend pedal life rather than replace.
- Saint-level build quality: Part of Shimano's flagship gravity groupset, designed for long-term durability in the harshest downhill and freeride conditions.
- Low-profile platform: 16.4mm centre thickness gives a lower stack height for improved pedalling stability and ground clearance feel.
Platform & Pin Design
The PD-M828 platform is forged and machined from alloy for a balance of strength and weight. The 1mm fore-aft concave shape subtly cups the sole of your shoe, helping foot placement feel natural and secure. Pin layout is optimised across the platform — longer pins at the periphery bite into your sole where you need it most, while shorter centre pins maintain connection without being punishing during pedal strikes.
Durability for Gravity Riding
Saint components are Shimano's toughest, and the PD-M828 lives up to that reputation. The chromoly axle handles the repeated impacts and lateral loads that come with gap jumps, rock gardens, and steep chutes. Cup-and-cone bearings can be overhauled with standard tools, meaning these pedals can last multiple seasons with routine maintenance.
