Lever Design

The BL-RX820-L features an anti-slip textured aluminium lever blade that maintains grip even in wet conditions. The clamp band fits standard 23.8–24.2 mm handlebar sections. Shimano's Servo Wave mechanism optimises lever throw for gravel riding — a shorter initial pull seats the pads quickly, transitioning to a more deliberate, modulated stroke that gives confident control on loose or technical surfaces. Free stroke adjustment is also available to further fine-tune pad engagement feel.

Caliper Performance

The BR-RX820 rear flat-mount caliper is a refined evolution of Shimano's proven two-piston hydraulic design. Its more compact body provides 10% greater pad-to-rotor clearance compared to its predecessor, directly reducing the likelihood of brake rub and noise on rough terrain where wheel flex is common. Lightweight aluminium construction keeps weight low, while the straight hose connection keeps the installation tidy. The included L05A-RF finned resin pads feature Ice-Tech aluminium cooling fins for rapid heat dissipation.

Compatibility & Fit

Compatible with Shimano GRX 12-speed (RX820 series) groupsets. The BL-RX820-L lever clamps onto 23.8–24.2 mm diameter handlebar sections. The BR-RX820 caliper uses flat-mount attachment and is compatible with 140 mm, 160 mm, and 180 mm rotors (adapters required for sizes other than assembled configuration). Shimano recommends the RT-CL800 Centre Lock rotor. Uses Shimano mineral oil only — do not use DOT fluid. Supplied with SM-BH90-JK-SSR hydraulic hose (1000 mm).
