Power Measurement & Technology
Shimano's strain-gauge-based power measurement is built directly into the crank arms — 24 strain gauges in total — keeping the system clean and precise. The dual-sided setup captures independent left and right power output, providing the balance data needed to identify and correct pedalling inefficiencies. Force Vector goes further, logging the direction and magnitude of your pedalling force through the entire crank rotation so you can analyse and refine technique as well as track fitness. Data is captured at 12 points per revolution on each side, giving a detailed picture of where power is applied and where it is lost.
HOLLOWTECH II Construction
The FC-R9200-P uses Shimano's proven HOLLOWTECH II design: hollow aluminium crank arms bonded with a 24 mm hollow spindle that passes through an outboard bottom bracket. The outboard bearing placement widens the stance for improved stiffness and pedalling stability, while the hollow construction minimises weight without sacrificing rigidity. The 52/36T HOLLOWGLIDE chainrings are engineered specifically for 12-speed Dura-Ace shifting precision, and the large chainring incorporates carbon elements for further weight reduction.
Battery & Connectivity
The integrated rechargeable lithium-ion battery is housed in the crank spider and eliminates the need for coin cells. It delivers more than 300 hours of power per charge and refills in around 2.5 hours. Dual-protocol wireless — ANT+ and Bluetooth LE simultaneously — means you can pair to a GPS head unit and a smartphone app at the same time, making data logging and live coaching straightforward on race day or in training.
