HOLLOWTECH II & HOLLOWGLIDE Technology

HOLLOWTECH II integrates the spindle into the right crank arm, creating a wider bearing stance for greater lateral stiffness and more efficient power transfer. The redesigned 4-arm spider shape maximises rigidity at reduced weight. HOLLOWGLIDE chainrings feature a revised tooth profile that accelerates chain pick-up from front derailleur shift cage contact, improving shift quality under load — a benefit equally valuable with mechanical or Di2 electronic shifting.

Race-Ready Disc Brake Geometry

The FC-R9100 was designed alongside modern disc brake frames with shorter rear centres. The chainring geometry accommodates narrower chainstay clearances without pushing the cranks further outward, so Q-factor stays at the same narrow dimension road racers expect from Dura-Ace.

Compatibility & Fit

The FC-R9100 is compatible with Shimano 11-speed road drivetrains — including both mechanical and Di2 electronic front derailleurs — and requires a Shimano HG 11-speed chain. It is designed for use with a Shimano-compatible road bottom bracket (such as the BB-R9100 or BB-R9100-PB; sold separately). The 43.5mm chainline is suited to standard road frame geometry. Available in crank lengths of 170mm, 172.5mm, and 175mm.
