Hollowtech II Technology

Hollowtech II integrates the bottom bracket axle directly into the right crank arm, eliminating the traditional square-taper or splined crank interface. The 24mm hardened steel spindle passes through paired bearings housed in the bottom bracket shell, keeping bearing spacing wide for maximum lateral stiffness under sprint loads. The hollow-forged aluminium arm construction removes material where it is not needed without compromising the cross-sectional rigidity that matters most during hard out-of-saddle efforts.

HollowGlide Chainrings

Shimano's HollowGlide chainring technology features carefully shaped tooth profiles and dedicated shift gates engineered specifically for the demands of 11-speed drivetrains. Compatibility & Fit

The FC-9000 is designed for 11-speed road drivetrains — mechanical Dura-Ace 9000-series or compatible 11-speed groupsets. It requires a Shimano Hollowtech II bottom bracket (sold separately). Compatible bottom brackets include the SM-BB9000 threaded external-cup unit for standard BSA threaded shells, and press-fit options for compatible frames. The 110mm BCD is compatible with Shimano 11-speed compact, standard, and mid-compact chainring options. Chain compatibility is optimised for Shimano HG-X11 and HG-EV 11-speed chains. Bottom bracket not included.
