Power and control
The two-piece BR-M8220 is the most powerful caliper in the M8200 family, using a four-piston design to clamp the rotor evenly for strong, repeatable stopping. Combined with the Servo Wave lever, the brake brings the pads to the rotor quickly with little lever movement, then ramps up power for greater braking force with improved feel under your finger.
Heat management and feel
Metal pads with an integrated cooling fin shed heat to help maintain performance on long descents, while Shimano's low-viscosity mineral oil helps keep the bite point stable in changing trail and weather conditions. The redesigned pad and seal arrangement also helps reduce vibration-related rattle.
Ergonomics and adjustment
The BL-M8200 lever uses Shimano's Ergo Flow shaping with a closer pivot point that follows the natural arc of your finger. Tool-free reach adjustment and free stroke adjustment let you tune the lever position and engagement to suit your hands and riding style.
