Built to last

Shimano builds the SM-RT56 from a single piece of moulded stainless steel, then heat-treats and polishes it. The drilled braking surface sweeps away water, dirt and the gases generated under hard braking, helping the pads keep a clean, even contact.

Resin pads only

The SM-RT56 is engineered for resin (organic) brake pads. Shimano advises against running metal/sintered pads on this rotor, as the harder pad material can damage the braking surface. Pair it with resin pads to get the full service life and smooth, quiet braking.

Compatibility & fit

Six-bolt (ISO) mounting to suit standard six-bolt disc hubs. 180mm diameter. Resin pad compatible only - do not use with metal/sintered pads. Suits Deore, SLX, XT and XTR-level Shimano disc calipers and other six-bolt systems that accept a 180mm rotor. Always confirm your frame, fork and caliper are rated for a 180mm rotor and use the correct adapter if needed.
