Hydraulic braking and mineral oil system

The ST-U6030-L operates a Shimano hydraulic disc brake caliper via Shimano mineral oil, delivering consistent modulation and lever feel across the full temperature and condition range. It is compatible with the SM-BH59 hose and J-Kit (straight hose joint) system for clean, serviceable hose routing.

Brake side — Australian setup

On a standard Australian bicycle the left lever operates the rear brake. The ST-U6030-L controls your rear hydraulic caliper and, as the left lever in a 2x system, handles front derailleur (2-speed) shifts.

Compatibility & fit

Designed for standard drop handlebars with a 23.8–24.2 mm clamp band diameter. Front shifting: 2-speed (double / 2x). Compatible with Shimano CUES 10-speed and 11-speed rear drivetrains. Pairs with Shimano hydraulic disc brake calipers such as the BR-U6030 (sold separately). Uses Shimano mineral oil — do not use DOT fluid. Supplied as a single left-hand lever with a 1800 mm hydraulic hose.
