Q'AUTO Technology

Q'AUTO is Shimano's breakthrough automatic shifting platform built into the CUES ecosystem. Three internal sensors — monitoring speed, cadence, and gradient — feed continuous data to the hub's intelligent shifting logic. The system analyses this data in real time and signals the paired RD-U8050 rear derailleur wirelessly to change gear at exactly the right moment. There is no separate head unit or display required for automatic operation. A wireless shift switch (SW-EN605-R) provides manual override and mode selection when needed.

Dynamo Power System

Unlike conventional Di2 systems that rely on a rechargeable battery housed in the frame, the FH-U6060 generates its own power through an integrated dynamo that spins with the rear wheel. Energy is stored in a compact lithium-ion capacitor mounted within the hub shell and connected directly to the rear derailleur. Shimano states the capacitor can retain charge for over a year of inactivity, meaning the system is effectively maintenance-free from a power perspective.

Compatibility & Fit

The FH-U6060 uses a standard HG (Hyperglide) freehub body compatible with Shimano CUES LinkGlide cassettes in 10-speed and 11-speed configurations. This 32H variant (IFHU6060B) suits 32-hole rim builds. The 12x142mm thru-axle standard fits most modern road, gravel, and MTB frames with 142mm rear spacing. Disc brake interface is Centerlock. For automatic shifting, the hub requires the Shimano RD-U8050 CUES rear derailleur. The SW-EN605-R wireless shift switch is recommended for manual override capability.
