Internal Gearing

The SG-S7001-11 packs 11 individually selectable gear ratios into a sealed aluminium shell, spanning a ratio range of 0.527 to 2.153 — a 409% spread that covers everything from steep climbs to fast flat stretches. The new gear mesh geometry delivers smoother rotation compared to earlier Alfine generations, while the Silent Clutch ensures each shift engages cleanly under load.

Oil Lubrication & Durability

Unlike grease-filled hubs that require frequent disassembly, the SG-S7001-11 uses an oil-bath lubrication system. This keeps all internal components bathed in lubricant at all times, dramatically reducing wear and extending service intervals — an ideal feature for year-round commuters or loaded tourers covering high kilometres.

Centre Lock Disc Brake Mount

The Centre Lock (CL) interface uses a splined rotor mount secured by a standard bottom bracket lockring tool, making rotor swaps fast and repeatable. The system provides precise rotor alignment and strong, consistent braking performance — particularly valuable for heavier builds or riders who rely on disc brakes in all weather conditions.

Compatibility & Fit

Designed for frames with 135mm rear spacing and a 3/8" bolt-on axle (187mm overall axle length). The hub shell is drilled for 36 spokes. Chain line is 41.8mm. Compatible with a single cog driver — requires a separate sprocket, cog snap ring, non-turn washers, and axle nuts (not included). Suitable for use with Shimano Alfine or Nexus shifters. The 135mm bolt-on standard suits a wide range of city, hybrid, and touring frames. Not compatible with quick-release dropouts or thru-axle frames.
