Electronic Shifting & Connectivity

Note: satellite shifter ports and hidden hood buttons are not available on this lever.

Hydraulic Brake System

The lever uses Shimano mineral oil and ships with SM-BH90-J-SSR and SM-BH90-JK-SSR hydraulic hoses (straight joint, black). The system supports funnel bleeding for clean, straightforward maintenance. Flat Mount brake calipers are the recommended pairing — the BR-R7170 caliper is the specified match for this lever.

Compatibility & Fit

This is the left-hand lever (front brake / electronic shift control) for Shimano 105 Di2 2×12-speed road systems. Compatible with the ST-R7170-R right lever to complete the pair. Recommended brake caliper: BR-R7170 (Flat Mount). Recommended rotors: SM-RT70, SM-RT64. Handlebar clamp range: 23.8–24.2 mm. The lever is forward-compatible with Ultegra (ST-R8170) and Dura-Ace (ST-R9270) levers within a mixed Di2 system.
