Design & Ergonomics

The ST-5700 hood is shaped with input from Dura-Ace 7900 ergonomics — flatter and more anatomically refined than its predecessors. The revised brake lever pivot location improves braking feedback and power, particularly when gripping from the top of the hoods. Internal routing for both shift and brake cables keeps the cockpit tidy and reduces friction points.

This is a right-hand lever for rear derailleur shifting and rear brake actuation (Australian standard: right lever = front brake; however this unit is supplied as the right-hand control for a 10-speed rear system in the standard Shimano pairing). Compatible with Shimano 10-speed road drivetrains — pairs directly with 105 5700-series, Ultegra 6700-series, and compatible 10-speed components. Works with rear derailleurs: RD-6700, RD-5700. Front derailleur compatibility: FD-6700, FD-5700, FD-4600 (not compatible with FD-7900 Dura-Ace). Brake caliper compatibility: BR-7900, BR-6700, BR-5700, BR-R650, BR-5600, BR-5800, BR-4600, BR-4500 and other Super SLR-compatible road calipers. Not compatible with 9-speed or 11-speed systems.
