After fitting

New inners settle slightly in the first few rides. Re-check cable tension once it has bedded in, and fine-tune with the barrel adjuster if the shift starts to hesitate.

Compatibility and fit

For Shimano indexed shifters and derailleurs, cut to length on fitting. If the outer casing is worn, kinked or dirty, replace it at the same time, or the new inner won't shift as cleanly as it should.
