The right tool protects expensive parts. FSA makes these tools to fit its own cranks, bottom brackets and headsets properly, which avoids damaged cups, splines and bearings.

Using the wrong tool on bottom bracket cups, lockrings or bearings can round off splines or crack parts. A dedicated tool gives full contact and lets you reach the right torque without slipping.
