Hope's floating rotor is the high-performance option for demanding riding: a laser-cut, heat-treated 410 stainless braking surface riveted to a CNC-machined aluminium centre. The outer is free to expand as it heats - Hope's true floating design allows one degree of freedom - so the rotor resists warping on long descents, and the alloy centre works as a heat sink to keep disc temperatures down. It has the stiffness of a thicker fixed disc without the weight.
Choose the size and colour in the dropdowns. 140, 160, 180, 203 and 220 mm, 6-bolt fitment (6 x M5 on the 44 mm PCD); the anodised centre comes in black, silver, red, blue, orange, purple or bronze. The braking surface is 1.8 mm thick (Hope's minimum 1.5 mm).
Before you order: the rivet heads stand 1 mm proud of each face, so the rotor is 2.8 mm overall at the rivets - check clearance at the caliper mount and frame. Hope lists the floating rotor as not compatible with its V2 and Trial calipers. A bigger rotor needs the matching Hope brake mount (sold separately). Hope's 203 mm is the legacy size; 200 mm is the modern standard on Centre Lock.
Hope Technology warrants its rotors against defects in materials and workmanship. The braking surface is a wear item: Hope's minimum thickness is 1.5 mm on floating and fixed rotors and 2.9 mm on the vented rotor.
