Synthesis Alloy 2.0 is Crankbrothers' tuned front-and-rear wheel system in an alloy rim built for downhill and e-MTB abuse. This listing is the rim on its own, ready for a custom wheel build, and every rim is either front- or rear-specific.

Tuned front and rear

Crankbrothers tunes the front for compliance and the rear for stiffness. The wider front rim supports a bigger tyre profile and more contact patch for cornering grip, while the narrower rear rim sharpens the tyre edges for grip and, with 32 spokes, is built for stiffness, stability and tracking at speed. Because the rims are position-specific, a front rim belongs on the front wheel and a rear rim on the rear.

Stronger alloy

Crankbrothers says 6069 alloy delivers significantly higher tensile, yield, fatigue and shear strength for better resistance to dents, cracks and deformation, and shot peening hardens the outer layer to help prevent cracks. An updated profile adds material in the rim bed and sidewalls where impacts land.

Wheel builds

This is a rim only: hub, spokes and nipples are not included and the rim is not laced. Tune Cycles' workshop can build it into a wheel on your hub; the build is a separate workshop service and is not included in the price.

Compatibility & fit

Available in 27.5in (584mm ETRTO) and 29in (622mm ETRTO). Front rims are drilled 28 hole and rear rims 32 hole, so match the hub to the rim position. Crankbrothers' ERD figures assume a 2mm spoke head depth.
