Short alloy crank arms for eMTBs with a Shimano EP8 motor, CNC-machined by 5DEV from 7075 billet in San Diego. 5DEV offers them in shorter lengths to reduce rock and pedal strikes on technical climbs.

Fitting

Fitting eCranks is a separate workshop service and isn't included in the price. The Tune workshop can fit them to your pedal-assist eBike and confirm your motor first. 5DEV's EP8 mounting instructions: line up the slot in the arm with the small hole in the motor spindle, fit the crank cap with thread locker and torque it to 8Nm (6mm hex), then tighten the two M6 pinch bolts (5mm hex) alternately to 14Nm, inside bolt first, with thread locker on each. The arms go on 180° apart. 5DEV asks for the job to be done by an experienced eBike mechanic and for the bolts to be re-checked after the first ride.

This listing is 5DEV's earlier EP8 eCrank (5DEV code CS, EP8 version). 5DEV also made this crank in a separate version for Shimano's older E8000/E7000 motors; this is not that version.

Compatibility & fit

  • Made for the Shimano EP8 motor.
  • 5DEV's current R-SPEC EP8 page says its EP8 cranks work on EP801 motors. This listing is the earlier EP8 crank, so for an EP801, or any other Shimano motor, check your motor's crank interface with our workshop before ordering.
  • Not the E8000/E7000 version.
  • Q-factor 182mm on an EP8.
  • No chainring is listed with the arms.
